Activity 1.2

HOW LIVING AND NON-LIVING THINGS INTERACT

Aim:

When you have completed this activity you will have described some of the ways that living and non-living things interact.

Read the Fact Sheet about the greenhouse effect and then follow the directions below to create a flowchart.

Procedure:

  • Print then cut out the cards on the sheet.
  • Using as many of the cards as you can, make a flowchart to explain how the greenhouse effect works. Arrange the cards on an A3 sheet and link them together with words and arrows. Don’t glue down the cards until you are sure where you want to put them.

Here are two examples of flowcharts. Flowchart A shows one of the causes of the enhanced greenhouse effect. Flowchart B shows how the elements in the water cycle interact.
