Level 3 and 4

Introductory lesson 1 – Level 3

Task: Students identify and describe forms of energy, the sources and the uses.

Developmental lesson 2 – Level 4

Task: Students research and present an alternative source of energy as a PowerPoint display and use the information as a basis for further discussion.

Developmental lesson 3 – Level 4

Task: Students design and make a model showing transformations using an alternative form of energy.

Developmental lesson 4 – Level 3

Task: Students investigate occupation related to the production of energy sources.

Developmental lesson 5 – Levels 3–4

Task: Students revise strategies for analysing and predicting effects of energy production and consumption on the environment.

Culminating activity lesson 6 – Level 4

Task: Students prepare and enact a parliamentary or hypothetical debate using the issue of ecological impact related to the production and consumption of an energy source.

Culminating activity lesson 7 – Levels 3–4

Task: Students conduct a survey to determine the average levels of energy consumption in the home.
They analyse data from the survey to create a plan to reduce energy usage in the future.
